1st anniversary of the opening of the National Science Centre

On 9 March 2012 official celebrations of the first anniversary of the opening of the National Science Centre (NSC) will be held in Kraków.

The event will be attended, among others, by HM Rector of the University of Silesia Prof. Wiesław Banyś, Minister of Science and Higher Education Barbara Kudrycka, Director of the NSC Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk and Chairman of the Board of the NSC Prof. Michał Karoński.

A performance by the Krakauer String Quartet will add splendour to the celebrations.

HM Rector of the University of Silesia appointed to New Economy Club

On 21 February 2012 Kraków hosted participants of the second meeting of the New Economy Club, during which Mr. Marek Sowa, Marshal of the Province of Lesser Poland, and Mr. Adam Matusiewicz, Marshal of the Province of Silesia, appointed new members of the Club. These include voivodes (province governors), representatives of leading universities, presidents of the largest companies based in the two regions, as well as presidents of chambers of commerce. Among the newly appointed members of the New Economy Club is also HM Rector of the University of Silesia Prof. Wiesław Banyś.

HM Rector of the University of Silesia to participate in EUA Council

On Friday, 27 January 2012, the European University Association Council will meet in Brussels. The event will be attended by Prof. Wiesław Banyś, HM Rector of the University of Silesia and President of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities, who will represent the President of the Conference of Academic Schools in Poland, HM Rector of the University of Warsaw Prof. Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow.
